Farrah Fawcett became a worldwide phenomenon in 1976 when she emerged as the breakout star of
Charlie's Angels. That was also the same year her red swimsuit poster sold a record-breaking twelve million copies. To this day, it remains the bestselling poster of all time: having outsold Marilyn Monroe and Betty Grable combined. However Farrah was not content to be “just” an angel
or a pin-up girl.
With great determination, she set out to reinvent herself by taking over for Susan Sarandon on the New York stage in
Extremities. Her performance won rave reviews and paved the way for her to star in the groundbreaking television movie
The Burning Bed for which she was nominated for her first Best Actress Emmy. Over the next ten years she starred in a dozen highly-rated and critically acclaimed
movies-of-the-week and mini-series including Poor Little Rich Girl, The Margaret Bourke White Story, Nazi Hunter, Dalva, The Substitute Wife, Children of the Dust, Jewel, Baby, Silk Hope, Hollywood Wives, Between Two Women, Murder in Texas, Criminal Behavior and
Small Sacrifices for which she received her second Best Actress Emmy nomination.
Farrah's early television appearances include The Flying Nun, That Girl, I Dream of Jeannie, The Partridge Family, The Six Million Dollar Man (which starred her husband Lee Majors) and close to fifty commercials for such products as
Mercury-Cougar, Ford, Union 76, Ultra-Brite Toothpaste, Noxzema, and
Wella Balsam Shampoo. She has played recurring guest roles on such popular and/or critically acclaimed series as
Ally McBeal, Spin City and The Guardian for which she received her third Emmy nomination in 2004. Farrah also starred or co-starred in three other series: Harry O, Good Sports
and her self-titled reality series Chasing Farrah in 2005.
Her motion picture credits include the film version of
Extremities, MyraBreckinridge, Logan's Run, Sunburn, Somebody Killed Her Husband, Cannonball Run, SeeYou lnThe Morning, Dr. T & The Women
and The Apostle, opposite Robert Duvall, for which she received an
Independent Spirit nomination. She also received a collective six Golden Globe nominations during her career and won the
People’s Choice Award.
Farrah graced the covers of countless magazines including Time, Vanity Fair, Vogue,
interview, Mademoiselle, Good Housekeeping, People, Daily Variety and TV Guide. And when she decided to prove that women could still be sexy at 50, she posed for Playboy. Her issue sold over 4 million copies and became the magazine's bestseller of the 90's and the second bestseller of all time.
As an artist, Farrah has published a book of photographs and sculptures which documented her exhibit from the
Los Angeles County Museum of Modern Art and the Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh.
Farrah's final project resulted in her fourth and final Emmy nomination as Executive Producer of a documentary chronicling
her almost three year battle with cancer.
